Oriental Beef and Vegetables

Ingredients:

- 1 lb. boneless top sirloin steak
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons dry sherry
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
- ¼ teaspoon ginger
- 1/8 teaspoon dry mustard
- 2 teaspoons vegetable oil
- 1 (6 oz.) pkg. frozen pea pods, thawed
- 1 medium sweet red pepper, cut into strips
- 1 (8oz.) can sliced water chestnuts, drained

Preparation Method:

Slice steak diagonally across grain into 2 ½ x ½ -inch strips. In medium bowl, combine garlic, soy sauce, sherry, water, cornstarch, brown sugar, ginger and mustard. Add beef mix well and refrigerate 30 minutes. Drain, reserving marinade.

Place beef and oil in 2-quart oblong glass baking dish. Cover with wax paper. Microwave at HIGH (10) 8 to 10 minutes. Add reserved marinade, pea pods, red pepper and water chestnuts. Cover. Microwave at HIGH (10) 7 to 9 minutes until sauce is thickened and vegetables are crisp-tender; stir after 4 minutes.

Total Microwave Cooking Time 15 to19 minutes
Make 4 to 6 servings
