Three Layer Brownies

Ingredients:

- 3/4 cup quick-cooking oats
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1 (1 oz.( square unsweetened chocolate
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 egg, beaten
- 3/4 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup pecans, chopped

Frosting:
1 (1 oz.)square unsweetened chocolate
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 cup powdered sugar sifted
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 2 tablespoons hot water


Preparation Method:

In small mixing bowl, combine oats, 1/3 cup flour, brown sugar, baking soda and 1/4 cup butter. Press mixture into 8-inch square baking dish. Microwave at MEDIUM (5) to 7 minutes, until surface appears dry. Rotate dish 1/4 turn after 2 minutes. Let cool on wire rack 10 minutes. In 2-quart casserole, combine chocolate and 4 tablespoons butter. Microwave at HIGH (10) 2 to 3 minutes until melted. Add granulated sugar, water, egg, vanilla, flour, baking powder and pecans. Mix well. Spread mixture evenly over oat mixture. Microwave at MEDIUM (5) 5 to 7 minutes. Rotate dish 1/4 turn after2 minutes. Let cool. Frost with chocolate Frosting

Chocolate Frosting: In 1-quart casserole, combine chocolate and butter. Microwave at HIGH (10) 2 to 3 minutes until melted. Add powdered sugar and almond extract. Add hot water, 1tablespoon at a time, until frosting is spreadable.

Total Microwave Cooking Time 14 to 20 Minutes
Makes about 2 dozen bars
