CHUCK ROAST RECIPE

Arrange vegetables as flat as possible in dish. If vegetables cover roast, microwave for minimum time.
Ingredients:
1 fresh or frozen beef chuck or arm roast, about 5-lb.
2 to 3 potatoes, peeled and cut in large chunks
4 to 6 carrots, scraped and cut in chunks
2 large onions, cleaned and quartered
1 can (10 1/2 -oz.) beef consomme or beef broth
Preparation Method:
In 13×9x2- inch. dish place roast. Arrange vegetables around edges of dish. Pour consomme over top. Insert temperature probe so tip is in liquid on bottom of dish. Cover tightly with plastic wrap, arranging loosely around probe to vent. Attach cable end at receptacle. Microwave at Autiomatic Simmer 6 to 8 Hours, for fresh meat, or 9 to 11 hours, for frozen. Makes 6 to8 servings.
VARIATIONS:
Pot Roast with Wine: Use above recipe except omit vegetables and consomme. Sprinkle 1 cup chopped onions over top of roast; top with mixture of 1 can (10 -oz.) beef gravy and 1/2 cup red cooking wine.
With Other Vegetables: Fresh rutabagas, turnips, and parsnips, peeled and cut in large chunks, or 1 pkg. (32-oz.) frozen stew vegetables may be substituted for carrots and potatoes in basic recipe.
To Automatic Simmer Chuck Roast 1 to 2 Hours Longer: Use larger dish, such as pyroceram 12×10 roasting dish and add 1 cup water.
