Fruit Topped Layer Cake Recipe

Some good flavor combinations to try with this technique are: Yellow cake mix with peach pie filling, spice cake mix with cherry pief filling.

Ingredients:

1 pkg. (2-layer) cake mix
1 can (20 to 22-oz.) pie filling

Preparation Method:

Prepare cake mix according to package directions. Cut wax paper to fit bottoms of 2 8-in. round dishes. Pour half of pie filling into each dish. Then, pour 2 cups of prepared cake batter into each dish. If square dishes are desired, batter can be divided evenly between them.

Microwave one cake at a time. Microwave at High 8 to 9 Minutes, rotating dish 1/2 turn after 4 minutes, until toothpick stuck in center comes out clean. Let cake stand 10 minutes directly on heat proof counter or wooden board.

If tops of cakes are not even, slice small amount from tops so they may be stacked. Invert 1 layer on serving plate. Invert and stack second layer on top. If desired, frost sides of cake with whipped cream or whipped dessert topping. Makes 1 (8-in.) layer cake.
